Speed Racer Gets Green Light!!! (11/01/2006)

Producer Joel Silver has come out and said that the long anticipated Speed Racer Live Action Anime has been given a green light and is expected to be released theatrically in Summer, 2008.

The Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix trilogy) have written a script and they will direct the movie. Filming is expected to begin in summer 2007. The special effects supervisor John Gaeta, the man that won an Oscar for his work on the Matrix movies, will again work with the Wachowski Brothers on this live action anime.

The movie will be geared towards all audiences according to Joel Silver, who also worked with the Wachowski Brothers on the Matrix. “They wanted to do something that could appeal to everybody.” The Wachowski Brothers were at first hesitant to take on the Speed Racer live action anime until they could come up with a way to bring something original to the movie. “They are approaching these racing scenes in a way you’ve never seen before,” said Silver.

As stated before on Live Action Anime Vince Vaughn is still signed up to play Racer X in the Wachowski version of the Speed Racer live action anime.
